While they opposed the Taliban during the [[Afghanistan war]] from 2001 to 2021, they mainly opposed the USA and its puppet government. They criticized the Taliban for its demand for semi-colonial independence, which they called a defective pursuit because it "is only based on the partial solution to the current principal contradiction and is unable to guide society towards the final solution of the fundamental contradiction."<ref name=":0">[http://www.sholajawid.org/english/main_english/SH21_D4_peace_process.html The  ‘Peace’ Process: the capitulation of the Taliban to the Occupying American  imperialists and its satrap regime] 21, September  2019</ref> They saw the Taliban's taking of territory as merely "for the purposes of increasing their gains on the  path of capitulation with the occupiers", falling short of a real war of resistance.<ref name=":0" />
