The American Party of Labor (APL) is an anti-revisionist communist party in the United States. It opposes Titoism, Trotskyism, and Khrushchev's revisionism.[1]
Demands[edit | edit source]
Health care[edit | edit source]
The APL demands a national healthcare system and the nationalization of the pharmaceutical industry. It supports the legalization of marijuana but not hard drugs such as cocaine.[2]
Housing[edit | edit source]
The APL advocates for state-funded construction of apartments to provide housing as well as remodeling of old homes. It also demands an end to foreclosures.[2]
Military[edit | edit source]
The APL demands and an end to imperialist wars and CIA regime change operations and the withdrawal of U.S. military bases and personnel from all other countries. It also supports withdrawal of the United States from NATO.
Work[edit | edit source]
The APL supports a 30-hour work week and at least six weeks of paid vacation per year. It also supports a universal basic income for all adults, an end to the gender pay gap, and at least a year of paid parental leave. The party advises limiting the income of the richest people in society to ten times that of the poorest people.[2]
History[edit | edit source]
The American Party of Labor was founded in 2008 by associates of Jack Shulman, who died in 1999. The party was reorganized at a party congress in 2016. In November 2018, the party was granted observer status at the ICMLPO.[1]
