The People's Democratic Republic of Yemen, also known as South Yemen, was a socialist state in the southern part of the Arabian Peninsula.

History

After four years of guerrilla warfare between the National Liberation Front and British colonial forces, South Arabia became independent on November 30 1969 and the People's Republic of South Yemen was established.[1]
