The conditions of the laboring man at Pullman was first published in "Chicago Labor" magazine in 1894. It shows a heavy-set man to represent George Pullman squeezing the life and money out of his employee, the two panels on the machine are labelled "low wages" and "high rent"

Atop the machine are the words "capitalism," "monopoly," "plutocracy," and "wage slavery."
