The Iranian Revolution (انقلاب ایران), also known as the Islamic Revolution (انقلاب اسلامی), was an anti-imperialist revolution in Iran against US-backed monarch Mohammad Reza Pahlavi.

Results

Education

From 1976 to 2016, the total literacy rate increased from 47% to 93% and the percentage of people taking secondary education increased from 23% to 85%. The number of universities in the country increased from 233 to 2,940.[1]

Women's rights

Since the Islamic Revolution, the female literacy rate increased from 37% to 87% and enrollment in tertiary education increased from 4% to 66%.[2]
