Julio Antonio Mella (born Nicanor McPartland; 26 March 1903 — 10 January 1929) was a Cuban revolutionary who co-founded the original Cuban Communist Party in 1925. He is celebrated by the current Cuban government, who considers him a martyr for the communist cause.
Mella was assassinated in 1929 and historians to this day disagree on who the culprit was.
