Šamšīaddu I (died c. 1776 BCE) was an Assyrian ruler of Amorite origin. His father was an Amorite chieftain who invaded Mesopotamia after the fall of the Third Dynasty of Ur. He expanded his personal power over the council of elders and declared himself "king of multitudes." He conquered all of northern Mesopotamia and installed his younger son as ruler of the city of Mari.[1]
