Šulgi (died c. 2046 BCE) was the second king of the Third Dynasty of Urim. He succeeded his father Urnammu. Under Šulgi's rule, Sumer had an advanced legal code that required different levels of financial compensation for various crimes. The laws also punished female infidelity and rewarded those who returned slaves to their owners.[1]
