Aftermath of an Iranian ballistic missile that hit "Tel Aviv", occupied Palestine.

On 13 June 2025, the Zionist Entity launched a series of coordinated airstrikes on the Islamic Republic of Iran with the aim of sabotaging the Iranian nuclear programme, decapitating their military structure, and intimidating the local civilian population. It was the largest terror-bombing campaign against Iran since the Iran–Iraq War, leaving at least 78 dead and more than 320 others injured.[1] The attacks were dubbed Operation Nation of Lions (Hebrew: מבצע עם כלביא), alternatively translated as Operation Rising Lion.

In retaliation, Iran launched its own Operation True Promise III (Persian: عملیات وعده صادق ۳).

As a result of the attacks, flights where suspended at Tehran's Imam Khomeini International Airport, while the airspace over the entity had been nearly entirely cleared.

American officials were informed in advance of the strikes, according to Benjamin Netanyahu, stating "I leave the American position to the Americans. We updated them ahead of time. They knew about the attack. What will they do now? I leave that to President (Donald) Trump. He makes his decisions independently"[2] In a video message later that day. Leading to the U.S. advising that Americans leave the region, specifically Iraq, Bahrain and Kuwait, prior to Israeli strike in Iran.[3]

On 21 June, the United States bombed three nuclear research facilities in Iran under the orders of president Donald Trump.[4] Despite Trump's claim that Iran was researching a nuclear bomb (a claim which has been made by every US president since the Iranian revolution in 1979), these facilities are actually used to research nuclear technology which is used not only in energy production, but also in the medical industry. Iranian media reported that the damage was 'minimal'.[5] In retaliation, the Iranian military struck at a few US military bases located in Qatar, across the Persian Gulf.[6]

On 24 June, Trump announced that a ceasefire had been reached between "Israel" and Iran. While initially Iran denied that they had agreed to any (possibly due to Trump announcing the agreement before it had been signed), they later confirmed a ceasefire would take place starting at 4AM local time on the same day. "Israel" immediately broke the agreement, which prompted a retaliation from Iran, after which the latter confirmed that they would not violate the ceasefire unless "Israel" did first.[7]

Impact[edit | edit source]

Iranian State TV announced that two of the IRGC's generals and two nuclear scientists had been killed in the strikes.[8]

Iranian State Media Reported Benjamin Netanyahu fled to Greece after the Zionist attack on Iran.[9]

During the initial strike, Iran shot down two F-35 fighter jets and became the first country in the world to down a fifth generation F-35.[10] The IOF pilot ejected over Iran and was taken into custody.[11]

Iranian response[edit | edit source]

Iran has dubbed its response True Promise 3, targeting military facilities in several "Israeli" cities.[12]. Israeli army reported 7 IOF soldiers have been wounded in Iran missile strike.[13]
