Aššuruballiṭ I (died c. 1328 BCE) was the first king of the Middle Assyrian Empire. After the Hittite king Suppiluliuma I defeated Maitanni, Aššuruballiṭ seized Maitanni territory to expand Assyria beyond its earlier borders as a city-state.[1]
