Murders[edit | edit source]
Leandro dos Santos Silva[edit | edit source]
Nóbrega was imprisoned for the 2004 murder of Leandro dos Santos Silva, a car guard who reported militia activity. A tribunal court convicted him, but he requested a new trial and was released in 2006.[1]
Marielle Franco[edit | edit source]
In 2019, police issued an arrest warrant against Nóbrega for the 2018 murder of Rio de Janeiro councilwoman Marielle Franco, but he escaped Rio de Janeiro before being caught. 70 armed officials surrounded Nóbrega's house in Esplanada on 9 February 2020 and fatally shot him. Nóbrega's lawyer, Paulo Emílio Cata Pretta, said he was killed in order to prevent him from testifying against other conspirators.[1]
