Albert Einstein (14 March 1879 – 18 April 1955) was a German-born theoretical physicist and professor best known for developing the theory of relativity. His mass–energy equivalence formula E = mc2 has been called "the world's most famous equation" and in 1921 he received the Nobel Prize in Physics for his services to theoretical physics.
He was a socialist and advocated for a planned economy.[1] The FBI had a 1,427 page file on Einstein.[2] Einstein was a prominent member of the Jewish community, and although he had some Zionist sympathies, he was also a fierce critic of Israel and its treatment of the Palestinian people. Einstein was famously offered the Presidency of Israel in 1952 but rejected the role due to its contradiction with his pacificism.[3]
