Ali Hosseini Khamenei (19 April 1939 – 28 February 2026) was an Iranian Ayatollah and politician who served as the second supreme leader of Iran from 1989 until his assassination in 2026. He previously served as the president of Iran from 1981 to 1989. A prominent anti-imperialist figure, his murder by the Zionist Entity contributed to escalating the 2026 Iran Conflict.
Assassination[edit | edit source]
Following the unprovoked imperialist attack on Iran by the U.S. and Israel, Khamenei's Tehran compound was hit by multiple precision-guided munitions on February 28, 2026. The assassination was confirmed by Iranian state media a few hours after the West claimed to have carried out the murder, and Iran declared a national mourning period of forty days. Along with Khamenei over 40 people were murdered by the imperialists including several of his family members.[1][2][3][4]
