The American Communist Party (ACP) is a self described patriotic socialist group operating within the United States and Canada that claims to have split from the CPUSA in 2024. Its plenary committee includes the patriotic socialist influencers Haz Al-Din, Carlos Garrido, Jackson Hinkle, Noah Khrachvik, and Eddie Liger Smith.[1]
Although the party has added the names of various CPUSA sections as signatories of its founding declaration,[1] many of these sections were not aware they had signed the document and made statements distancing themselves from the ACP.[2] In response, an ACP supporter claimed that the signing sections had been "unconstitutionally expelled from [CPUSA]",[3] admitting that they had no authority to sign the CPUSA name on the ACP declaration.
Previously in 2022, patriotic socialists set up fake CPUSA accounts on Twitter to hijack the names of CPUSA sections as part of their failed CPUSA 2036 strategy.[4] Based on this, it is plausible to say that the ACP only used the name of CPUSA to boost their launch but otherwise had close to no contact with it.
