The American Communist Party (ACP) is a self-described Marxist–Leninist political party operating in the territory of the United States and Canada. It was founded in Chicago in July 2024 by several patriotic socialist social media influencers and claims to be the legitimate successor to the historic Communist Party USA. Its Plenary Committee (now named the Executive Board) consists of Haz Al-Din, Henry Ahmad, and Grayson Preutz of Infrared; Eddie "Liger" Smith, Carlos Garrido, Noah Khrachvik, and Kyle Pettis of Midwestern Marx; former PCUSA International Secretary Chris Helali; Rev Laskaris of the RTSG; and most famously Jackson Hinkle.[2]

Although the party has added the names of various CPUSA sections as signatories of its founding declaration,[2] many of these sections were not aware their name had been put on the document and made statements distancing themselves from the ACP.[3] In response, an ACP supporter claimed that the signing sections had been "unconstitutionally expelled from [CPUSA]",[4] though without providing any evidence, and admitting that the people claiming to represent these sections had no authority to sign the CPUSA name on the ACP declaration.

Previously in 2022, patriotic socialists set up fake CPUSA accounts on Twitter to hijack the names of CPUSA sections as part of their failed CPUSA 2036 strategy.[5] Based on this, it is plausible to say that the ACP only used the name of CPUSA to boost their launch but otherwise had close to no contact with it.

Ideology[edit | edit source]

The ACP is associated with the "MAGA Communism" trend of Haz Al-Din and Jackson Hinkle, both leaders of the party. In the ACP's party programme, the party omits properly dealing with the colonial question which dominates American history (never referencing land-back) and calls for the "Promotion of American Civilization".[6]
