Asmongold

Zack Hoyt, also known online as Asmongold, is a reactionary content creator and prominent figure in the alt-right pipeline. He originally started his career by streaming World of Warcraft content but, over time, pivoted to a reaction and commentary channel, commenting on current and social events in the United States, exposing his existing fanbase to these opinions and funneling them to become more openly fascist over time. His audience consists of 3.5 million subscribers on Twitch and 3 million on YouTube.

Views and opinions

Palestinian genocide

In October 2024, in the middle of the Palestinian genocide in Gaza, Asmongold made racist and zionist comments on Palestinians, calling them "terrible people who come from an inferior culture" and thus justifying the genocide. These comments earned him a ban from Twitch after people brought it to the platform's attention, but the ban was lifted after two weeks after he posted a non-apology, culminating with a "my bad".

LGBT-phobia

In an undated stream, he made a transphobic comment saying that "every trans kid" is the "victim" of a parent with "mental illness," thereby also implying that minors are unable to decide for themselves and that parents who are supportive of their children's transitions need to be treated somehow.

He has used the dogwhistle "degenerate" several times, including in one video titled "Asmongold Reacts to Twitch Degenerates", a video in which he says at 5:03 "I can't believe how there are women on [Twitch], it's fucking degenerate". While the comment has been excused as being made satirically (to mock the person he was talking about, who brought a lawsuit to Twitch over the presence of women on their Twitch front page), the way he phrased it makes it an alt-right dogwhistle that fascists have said without irony.

Misogyny

In a December 2023 livestream, he remarked that women possess a "disproportionately massive advantage in the sexual marketplace," a common incel talking point (the "sexual marketplace") in favor of gender discrimination and making women property for men to own. He went on to dismiss the discrimination women face in class society by adding, "You know what's unfair? Everything else. How about whenever they are 30 or 40 or 50? How fair are things then? And again, it's a very reductive mindset."

In late 2024, he said that there was a "DEI initiative" (Diverty, Inclusion and Equity) against men in the workplace. DEI is a new dogwhistle of the alt-right that appeared in 2024. At the time, he was reacting to another creator's video, sh0eonhead, who herself is part of the alt-right pipeline (first dating an openly alt-right content creator throughout the 2010s, and eventually attempting to rebrand as a leftist content creator to pander to this community, while still retaining her alt-right talking points but dressed up in different language). Thus, Asmongold exposed his audience to other alt-right content.

In April 2025, Asmongold commented that "society would instantly and dramatically improve if we took the bottom 5-10% most retarded [sic] kids out of school and put them in the coal mines instead" while he himself is worth millions and, prior to his zionist comments, was a business owner, reflecting his bourgeois status. These comments also follow after a wave of U.S. states repealing child labor laws, which has already led to the death of minors at their workplace.

Personal life

Asmongold lives in a dilapidated house that he refuses to clean. In one stream, he was filmed as a cockroach crawled on him. He also admitted once that he had not showered for over two and a half months.

He calls his own lifestyle "degenerate" as an attempt to validate the usage of the word, but this ignores his own class privilege, being a famous content creator worth millions and with millions of viewers who watch him precisely for his opinions.

The home is his childhood home and despite being a millionaire, Asmongold refuses to renovate or clean his home.

In one instance, he admitted that the stench coming from a dead rat in his bedroom would wake him up every morning as an alarm clock. He also revealed that there is mold growing in his house.

He has admitted to losing several teeth due to neglect, and when he was younger, he used to wipe his bloody gums on his bedroom wall in the morning upon waking up. To this day, the blood is still dried there.
