Crypto-fascism

From ProleWiki, the proletarian encyclopedia

Crypto-fascism is the disguised support of fascism. In general, the term "crypto" refers to people who hide their actual views under socially-acceptable (or mostly acceptable) arguments, pretending to be conservatives or liberals to operate under a veneer of respectability because they know their actual opinions would not be accepted in society. To do that, they make heavy use of dogwhistles, rehearsed arguments

Crypto-fascists are usually people who don't want to fully commit to their death cult ideology because they know it is socially unacceptable, and are still flirting with how far they can take it without alienating themselves from their friends and family. Some crypto-fascists also become content creators and public figures, whose purpose is to funnel unsuspecting people to the more openly fascist figures and opinions through the alt-right pipeline. It should be noted however that all fascists end up being recruiters for their ideology whether they are famous or not. Some of these figures, like Ben Shapiro or Jordan Peterson, simply stay crypto and never become open about their actual opinions so that they can continue to funnel new recruits through the pipeline.
