E.P. Thompson (Edward Palmer Thompson, 3 February 1924 – 28 August 1993) was an English Marxist Historian and founder of the New Reasoner. He was a member of the CPGB before being expelled following his dissidence from the party line after Khrushchev's "secret speech" and the soviet intervention in Hungary. He was a euro-communist and a prominent figure in the British "new left" movement.
