Gender or gender identity is an intrinsic, deeply felt sense of self that may or may not align with sex assigned at birth. Gender is distinct from aesthetics ("clothing"), personal characteristics ("flamboyance", "boyishness"), and social roles. While gender can be expressed through these modes, these external factors do not define it. Anyone of any gender and expression can also do drag performances, without it correlating, changing, or affecting anything about their gender or expression in daily life.
