The Japanese Communist Party (Action Faction) (Japanese: 日本共産党(行動派);Romanized: Nihon Kyōsantō (kōdōha)), is an anti-revisionist Marxist–Leninist political party in Japan. The group publishes theoretical material and monthly political reports, and describes its political line as a return to what it considers orthodox Marxism–Leninism. The group is affiliated with it's popular front, the Japanese People's Front, through which it has publications.[2]

Overview[edit | edit source]

The JCP(AF) describes itself as a political party, but rejects parliamentarianism. Its activity centers on producing theoretical material and monthly analyses of current events through an editorial committee (日本人民戦線運営委員会(にほんじんみんせんせんうんえいいいんかい)) and popular front called the Japanese People's Front. The group’s publications focus on what it calls orthodox Marxism–Leninism, emphasizing classical historical materialism, dictatorship of the proletariat and workers councils basis for socialist political power. The party heavily draws on the thought of Reiichiro Otake and Kyuichi Tokuda.[3]

The party as well as it's popular front serve primarily as an ideological current within the broader Japanese left.[4]
