Karos (died 546 BCE), also known by the Greek name Croesus, was the last king of Lydia. He conquered all of the Greek cities in Anatolia except Miletos. He made all of the Greek cities, including Miletos, pay a modest tribute to him, but he let them control their own internal affairs. He was known for his wealth and donated many gifts to the Greeks, including a 260-kg golden statue to the Temple of Delphi. In response, Delphi gave citizenship to all Lydians and exempted them from trade duties. The Persian conquest in 547 BCE ended Karos's reign.[1]
