Kim Jong Un (born 1982, January 8) is the General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and the President of the State Affairs Commission[1] after being elected by the Supreme People's Assembly.[2][3] He has worked on developing the country's nuclear weapons program to defend against US aggression.[4]

At the 8th Congress of the WPK in 2021, Kim assessed the work of the 7th Central Committee and analyzed the economy, culture, national defense, and governance of Korea.[5]
International support[edit | edit source]
In 2023, Kim Jong Un received congratulatory messages from organizations in Ecuador, Germany, Mali, Mexico, Nepal, Pakistan, Spain,[6] France, Hungary, Peru, Romania,[7] Belarus, the Philippines, Switzerland, and Uganda.[8]
