Léon Joseph Marie Ignace Degrelle (15 June 1906 – 31 March 1994) was a Belgian fascist politician and Nazi collaborator. Rising to prominence as the leader of the Rexist Party (Rex), Degrelle was a significant collaborator during the Nazi occupation of Belgium in the Second World War. Following the Nazi invasion of the Soviet Union he joined the German army and fought in the Walloon Legion on the Eastern Front to improve his position in the Nazi ranks. Following the fall of Nazi Germany, Degrelle was able to escape to Fascist Spain where he remained in exile for the remainder of his life as a major figure in far-right politics and Holocaust denial.
