Lipitištar (died c. 1924 BCE) was a king of the Sumerian city of Isin. He issued a new legal code that freed Sumerians and Akkadians from debt. His laws punished slaves that tried to escape and people who hid them. It declared that an enslaved woman and her children would become free if she married a free man.[1]
