Louis Auguste Blanqui (8 February 1805 – 1 January 1881) was a French socialist revolutionary and political philosopher notable for his theory of Blanquism. Blanqui's philosophy was highly focused on the organisational aspect of preparing a revolution and neglected to consider the conditions under which it should take place. He did not believe that the masses would play a significant role in a socialist revolution, instead maintaining that a tight-knit group of conspirators should establish a revolutionary dictatorship.[1]
