Masoud Pezeshkian (born 29 September 1954) is an Iranian politician and physician who has served as the ninth president of Iran since 2024. Previously he served as Minister of Health and Medical Education from 2001 to 2005 under president Mohammad Khatami and as the first deputy speaker of the parliament from 2016 to 2020.
A moderate politician, Pezeshkian has continued support for the Axis of Resistance and the Palestinian resistance whilst attempting to pursue more diplomatic routes with the West. Despite this, Israel and its imperialist allies have continued to ramp up their aggression against Iran, particularly in regards to its peaceful nuclear program, and attempted to assassinate Pezeshkian among other key figures during the Iran–Israel War of June 2025.[1][2]
