Mursili I (died 1590 BCE) was a Hittite king. He made the city of Hattusa, the oldest Hittite cultural site, into the capital of the Hittite Empire. Around 1600 BCE, he seized Halpa (Aleppo) in northern Syria and allied with the Kassites to sack Babylon in 1595 BCE. He was assassinated when he returned to Hattusa.[1]
