Nicolas Paul Stéphane Sarközy de Nagy-Bocsa (born 28 January 1955) is a French politician who served as President of France from 2007 to 2012. Previously he served in various ministerial positions, including as Minister of the Interior (2002 – 2004 and 2005 – 2007) and as Minister of Finances (2004). Sarkozy is best known as one of the main supporters of the NATO bombing of Libya in order to serve French imperial interests, but it would later be revealed that he had accepted campaign funding from Muammar Gaddafi, leading to his imprisonment.[1]
