Pearl growing is a metaphor used in information literacy where someone takes distinct facts and turns them into larger networks of knowledge, much like how pearls begin as small bits of sand within a clam.
At ProleWiki (and all other wikis) we encourage the creation of important pages that can be used to further research into a topic. You don't need to feel like a page is "complete" when creating it, just get the page started and we'll continue growing the "pearl" of the page.
