Seychelles, officially the Republic of Seychelles, is an island country in the Indian Ocean.
History
The CIA organized a mercenary invasion of Seychelles from apartheid South Africa in 1981. The invasion aimed to overthrow socialist President France Albert René, who supported the Non-Aligned Movement and wanted to remove nuclear weapons from the Indian Ocean.[1]
