Sabaʾ was an ancient south Arabian kingdom. It was ruled by a king whose power was limited by a popular assembly. During the first millennium BCE, it exported perfumes and imported spices and precious stones from India and East Africa. Caravans transported these goods across the desert to the major cities of Western Asia and the Mediterranean.[1]
