Sarduri II (died 735 BCE) was a king of Urartu. He abolished volunteer military forces so that the army would be fully equipped by the state. Following Tukultīapilešarra III's military reforms, Assyria was able to defeat Urartu near Arpad, Syria. The Assyrians advanced to Lake Van and besieged Tushpa but failed to capture it. Sarduri's forces captured 200,000 slaves during their wars.[1]
