Sergei Alexandrovich (11 May 1857 – 17 February 1905) was a Russian Grand Duke of the Romanov dynasty who was the fifth son and seventh child of Emperor Alexander II. He was an influential figure during the reigns of his brother Emperor Alexander III and his nephew and brother-in-law Emperor Nicholas II. He led a brutal regime as Governor-General of Moscow from 1891 to 1905 before his assassination, a few months after leaving the post, by the Socialist Revolutionary Party during the 1905 Russian revolution.
