Umma was the last major Sumerian city-state to exist before the Akkadian conquest. During the 25th and 24th centuries BCE, it lost its first war against Lagash, which was led by Eannatum and then Entemena.[1]
Rule of Lugalzagesi[edit | edit source]
Lugalzagesi allied with Uruk to destroy Lagash and overthrow its reformist ruler Urukagina. He then conquered Uruk, Adab, and Eridu to unite most of Sumer under the rule of Umma.[1]
