Vibes based politics

From ProleWiki, the proletarian encyclopedia

Vibes based politics is a common term used by Marxists used to criticize liberals, anarchists, and other idealist tendencies, pointing out their ideological roots or opinions being planted in feelings, ideas, and similarities between two concepts or actions rather than concrete material conditions.

Meaning of "Vibe"[edit | edit source]

The word "vibe" is a slang term for an atmosphere that can be sensed by someone, either good or bad[1]. It is similar to the term je ne sais quoi albeit referring to the atmosphere around something rather than an inherent characteristic.

Examples[edit | edit source]

Examples of vibes based politics include the concept of "totalitarianism," criticism of New Democracy for being "class collaborationist," and dismissal of AES states for their stance on LGBT issues.
