Yamagami Tetsuya (山上 徹也) is a [[Japan|Japanese]]-born criminal, who rose to international fame when he murdered former [[Japan|Japanese]] Prime Minister [[Shinzo Abe]] in July 2022.

== Death of Shinzo Abe ==
Abe had ties to the cult known as the [[Unification Church]] (統一教), accepting donations and providing political patronage to the cult. Yamagami's mother, who was an integrated member of the cult, gave the Unification Church a lot of [[money]] and even sold her house. On July 7, 2022, when Abe was giving a speech in [[Okayama]] City, Yamagami shot and killed Abe with a homemade shotgun.
