Kamala Devi Harris (born October 20, 1964) is a Statesian politician currently serving as the Vice President of the United States under President Joe Biden. Since 2021, she has overseen immigration and threatened leaders of Caribbean countries with neocolonialism. She plans to impose a $764 million IMF loan on Jamaica. In the past, the IMF bankrupted Jamaican potato farmers with its structural adjustment programs.[1]

Legal career

In the 1990s Harris became an attorney in her home state of California where she climbed the ranks to become head prosecutor for San Francisco from 2004 until 2011 and then California’s Attorney General from 2011 to 2017. During Harris' tenure as head prosecutor of California, black people were incarcerated at a 9.5 times higher rate than their white counterparts as well as having lower rates of positive outcomes in parole hearings and being subject to far more police violence.[2]

In 2011 when the Republican dominated Supreme Court ordered that the severe prison overcrowding in California's prisons be reduced (at the time California's prisons were over 200% capacity), Harris as Attorney General fought bitterly against the motion. The reason for Harris' reactionary stance was due to California's prisoners being used as slave labour to perform menial, physically demanding and dangerous jobs for the state and private companies whilst being paid between only 8 and 32 cents an hour on average. Although Harris was eventually forced to reduced the prison population the practice of slavery for the benefit of capitalism still exists in California's prisons to this day.[2]

Political career

In 2017 Harris was elected to the US Senate where she served until 2021 when she became Biden's Vice President. As Vice President she has consistently supported the policies of the Biden administration and no matter how many Palestinians die in the genocide she, along with the rest of the government, is unrepentant in their support for "Israel".[2]

After Biden withdrew from the 2024 US presidential election, he announced his endorsement for Harris to be President with Harris launching her campaign soon after and in the following weeks announced Tim Walz as her running mate. In her campaign for President, Harris has attempted to make herself seem like a progressive by using tactics such as pinkwashing whilst defending her record as a brutal reactionary and positioning her campaign to the right of Donald Trump on several key issues.[2]
