Kamala Devi Harris (born October 20, 1964) is a Statesian politician currently serving as the Vice President of the United States under President Joe Biden. Since 2021, she has overseen immigration and threatened leaders of Caribbean countries with neocolonialism. She plans to impose a $764 million IMF loan on Jamaica. In the past, the IMF bankrupted Jamaican potato farmers with its structural adjustment programs.[1]

Legal career[edit | edit source]

In the 1990s Harris became an attorney in her home state of California where she climbed the ranks and served as head prosecutor for San Francisco from 2004 until 2011, followed by serving as California’s Attorney General from 2011 to 2017. During Harris' time as head prosecutor of California, black people were incarcerated at a 9.5 times higher rate than their white counterparts as well as having lower rates of positive outcomes in parole hearings and being subjected to far more police violence.[2]

In 2011, the Republican-dominated Supreme Court ordered that the severe prison overcrowding in California's prisons be reduced as the state's prisons were over 200% capacity. Harris as Attorney General fought bitterly against the motion due to California's prisoners being used as slave labor to perform menial, physically demanding and dangerous jobs for the state and private companies while being paid between only between 8 and 32 cents an hour on average. Harris was eventually forced to reduce prison populations, but the practice of slavery for the benefit of capitalism still endures in California's prisons to this day.[2]

Political career[edit | edit source]

In 2017 Harris was elected to the US Senate where she served until 2021 before she became Biden's Vice President. As Vice President, she has consistently supported the policies of the Biden administration, including her unwavering support for the state of "Israel" in their campaign of genocide against Palestine.[2]

After Biden withdrew from the 2024 US presidential election, he announced his endorsement for Harris' campaign with Tim Walz as her running mate. In this campaign, Harris has attempted to make herself seem like a progressive by using tactics such as pinkwashing while defending her record as a brutal reactionary, even placing her stance to the right of Donald Trump on several key issues.[2]
