Direct action is an action method in which revolutionairies directly create the change they want to see in society, rather than trying to convince or take power from a ruling authority to make the change. Because direct action by its very nature involves defiance of authority, direct action methods are illegal in many countries.

Some examples of direct action are eviction defense, mutual aid, and removal of anti-homeless architecture.
