François Quesnay (4 June 1694 – 16 December 1774) was a French political economist and leader of the physiocrats. He believed in natural law and saw nature and agriculture as the source of all value. He thus supported heavy taxation against landlords while opposing guild and state restrictions on manufacturing and promoted free trade.[1]
