The Irish Socialist Republican Party was an Irish republican party founded by James Connolly in 1896.

Program

The Irish Socialist Republican Party had the following 10-point program:[1]

  1. Nationalization of railroads and canals.
  2. Abolition of private banks and establishment of state banks.
  3. Establishment of publicly funded rural depots for agricultural equipment.
  4. Graduated income tax on anyone who makes over £400 per year to fund social programs.
  5. Limit working week to 48 hours and establish a minimum wage.
  6. Free child support for all children.
  7. Extension of public ownership to all necessities of life.
  8. Public control of schools through elected boards.
  9. Free education through university.
  10. Universal suffrage.
