Wolfgang Schäuble was a neoliberal German politician. He most notably served as Minister of Finance under Angela Merkel's governments from 2009 to 2017. He also served in various other government positions under Angela Merkel's and Helmut Kohl's governments.
Political positions
Schäuble supported the imperialist 2003 invasion of Iraq.
He was one of the key people in the austerity measures of the Greek government debt crisis of 2009-2018.[1]
Schäuble received harsh criticism from Yanis Varoufakis, who had also served as Minister of Finance during the 2015 Grexit crisis.[2]
He told people to "just wear a sweater, or maybe still, a second sweater" in response to complaints about the 2022 energy crisis in Germany.[3]
