Al-Qaeda is a jihadist organization backed by the CIA,[1] UAE, and Saudi Arabia.[2]

U.S. support

In 2001, CIA director George Tenet told Yemeni president Ali Abdullah Saleh to release Anwar al-Awlaki after he was imprisoned for bombing the USS Cole. After being released, al-Awlaki became the leader of al-Qaeda on the Arabian Peninsula.[1]

In 2012, Jake Sullivan (then a top advisor to Hillary Clinton and now Biden's national security advisor) admitted that al-Qaeda is allied with the USA in the Syrian Civil War.[3][4]

Al-Qaeda worked with US proxy forces in Yemen to drive Ansar Allah out of Aden.[3]
