The Kingdom of Rua, also known as the Kingdom of Kasongo, was a tribal alliance located in the southeastern Congo. Its king, who was considered a god, appointed chiefs to rule the kingdom's districts for a term of four years. The king's sister was considered the wife of the chief god, and the king's first wife could govern the country in the king's absence. The king's sons had unlimited control over the property of the king's subjects.[1]
