Andrei Dmitrievich Sakharov (21 May 1921 – 14 December 1989) was an anti-Soviet physicist and Russian nationalist. He promoted a sovereignization policy that encouraged mass secession of republics and oblasts from the Soviet Union in order to prevent international unity. This policy claimed that Stalin oppressed ethnic Russians and denounced affirmative action policies that helped non-Russian nationalities.[1]
