Chugoku Region's kanji is the same as China's hanzi, But they are different places.

Chugoku Region is a regional concept in Japan, located in the western part of Honshu Island, consisting of five prefectures: Tottori, Shimane, Okayama, Hiroshima, and Yamaguchi.
