Compton's Cafeteria rebellion

In August 1966, predominantly homeless transgender people revolted against reactionary police in the Tenderloin district of San Francisco, California, USA. Vanguard, a class-based LGBT rights group, organized the rebellion and criticized bourgeois factions of the LGBT movement.[1]
