Discord is a chat software and app co-founded by Jason Citron and Stan Vishnevskiy on May 13, 2015.[1] In 2021, Microsoft attempted to buy Discord with an offer of over $10 billion USD.[2]
Privacy
Discord is known to record all information on its platform.[3] It specifically states on its website that it collects your email address, phone number, birthday, name, IP address, device data, tracking data, chat messages, voice chat, images, videos, drafts, files, custom emojis, voice recordings, live stream information, payment information, logs of other open apps, and third-party data.[4] On their website, it also claims that this information can be sent over to law enforcement.[5] Through email, it has been confirmed that Discord receives government requests for your information.[6]
Censorship
Discord has censored many of its servers for violating their terms and conditions, including “spreading information”, which is what GenZedong’s discord has been censored for.[7]
