Mandarin (Chinese: 普通话 Pinyin: pǔ tōng huà) It is the common language in China, population of users is about 1.6 billion.

History

Since the Xia Dynasty, the Chinese language has spread to all parts of the country. Due to the geographical barriers between places, the Chinese language has been divided into many different dialects. Although Hanzi still connects these dialects, they have become very different in pronunciation.

In order to unify the language across the country, China adopted and promoted the dialect of Luanping, Chengde, Hebei Province as the common language.

China's nationwide Mandarin penetration rate reaches 80.72% by 2020.
