Charlene Alexander Mitchell (June 8, 1930 – December 14, 2022) was a Statesian communist and CPUSA member. She, Anne Braden, and others founded the National Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression in 1973, which fought for the freedom of political prisoners including Angela Davis. She was also the first Black woman to run for President of the United States.[1]
