Matthew Louis Gaetz (born May 7, 1982) is a Statesian far-right politician. Trump offered to make him attorney-general, but Gaetz withdrew his own nomination because he worried he would be rejected by Congress due to an ongoing rape investigation. Pam Bondi replaced him as potential Attorney General.[1]
Political career[edit | edit source]
Gaetz was a member of the House of Representatives from Florida until November 2024, when he resigned while being investigated for rape. He was considered one of Trump's most loyal supporters.[1]
Rape allegations[edit | edit source]
During an investigation by the House Ethics Committee, a witness said that Gaetz raped a minor at a house party in 2017.[1]
